Why Maua

Before we left for our first trip back in 2010, someone told us, "just so you know, Kenya is a place that will get under your skin and stick with you forever". I was not expecting that warning to be so very true. From the moment we touched down, there was a sense of peace for me in this wonderful new place. Upon arrival to MMH, even though we were largely unannounced and without a game plan, people came together and showed us warmth, joy, laughter, unending hospitality and what true community looks like. They made us feel welcome and at home and because of this, it’s a place I want to continue to learn more about, pour into and watch thrive. I want to bring that heartfelt hospitality and genuine community back to each place I call home. This is my "why".
